WE LOVE STONES
Here is some additional information on the stones we work with a lot.

Belgian bluestone

Belgian bluestone, also  called Arduin, is a popular natural stone valued for its durability and aesthetic appeal. Mined from quarries in the Belgian Ardennes, it has a characteristic blue-grey colour and fine texture.

Belgian bluestone contains many small fossils, such as small snail shells, fossilised sea lilies (crinoids), sometimes you can also see a piece of fossilised honeycomb in it.

There are also sometimes white veins, also called muscles, in the stone. These are fault lines that formed in the earth's crust millions of years ago and filled with lime. It does not weaken, indeed if it breaks it is never in a limestone line.

When to choose Belgian bluestone memorial stone?

It is a stone with a unique character and authenticity!

Belgian bluestone is very engravable, we can also engrave beautiful photographs and illustrations on it.

This stone is cut with neatly finished bevelled edges, polished and impregnated. As a result, the stone looks almost black and shiny. Outside, the stone regains its original grey/blueish colour and appearance.

You choose such a stone if you like a natural look.

Marble

Marble, a beautiful metamorphic limestone, is known for its elegance and timeless beauty. Formed by natural pressure and heat, it exhibits unique veins and patterns that give each slab or tile a unique character. Luxury choice because of its brilliance, variety and artistic appeal.

This stone comes from the Apennines in Italy and is formed by the transformation of limestone under the influence of landslides, high temperature and extreme pressure. Its metamorphosis places it among the metamorphic stones.

                                Carrara

It is a famous and popular type of marble. Michelangelo also made his sculptures from this stone. For this, he travelled to Carrara to select the block of marble he would work with himself. He also had the idea that the sculpture was already hidden in the stone and only the artist's skilful hand was needed to free it.

When to choose a marble memorial stone?

We like working with marble because, first of all, it is a very beautiful type of stone. Beautifully finished with bevelled edges and a honed surface for silkiness.

The stone is easy to engrave and we lacquer this engraving with a high-quality black or gold lacquer.

You choose this one if you are looking for nice light stone with a fancy look!

Slate

Slate, a fissile metamorphic stone, fascinates with its layered texture and rich hues, often ranging from grey and black to green and red. Slate's unique texture and hues have a rustic charm. We only work with the most common variant, black slate. Slate is frost-resistant and can withstand temperatures of up to 200° Celsius. It is found in many parts of the world; there are quarries in England, Spain, South Africa, China, Canada and many more.

                                                 Leisteen

Slate is formed by a clay-rich sediment such as clay stone and shale, this has been transformed in nature under high pressure into this hard stone type. The minerals it contains are quartz, mica, haematite rutile, graphite and pyrite. Pyrite is occasionally visible. These are gold-coloured particles that can be visible in the surface of slate.

Slate is formed in layers and you often see that when it breaks, it crumbles into plate-like parts.

Slate has many uses as: roofing, writing boards, coat of arms, floor tiles, nameplates, memorial stones etc.

When to choose a slate memorial stone?

Slate is relatively cheap and available in various sizes with beautiful tumbled edges.

It engraves well and is very durable!

Besides slate memorial stones, we also have photo frames, clocks, nameplates and coasters made of slate.
